I’m In It Love

Released date: December 7, 2020
Here are the original lyrics for my first single, “Speak Out”, that was written and performed by me!
Speak Out
I wish I could be with you every second of every day but
That’s not how it works around here
Your smile it lifts me up keeps me going
But I could never show it mhmm
Will you say yay, will you say nay
Will you say thanks but I’m ok
Will you say go away, will you say stay
Will you say yes, will you say no
Will you say why don’t you just go
And then I’ll be all alone
I can’t seem to get the words out of my head and
Into the air between us
Now it’s just a moment of fear and trust
Will you say yay, will you say nay
Will you say thanks but I’m ok
Will you say go away, will you say stay
Will you say yes, will you say no
Will you say why don’t you just go
And then I’ll be all alone
Speak Out
(What will you say, what will you say)
Speak Out
(What will you say, what will you say)
I seem to long for you
But I’ve waited too long for you
That’s why I wrote this song for you
I don’t know how else to reach you
Will you say yay, will you say nay
Will you say thanks but I’m ok
Will you say go away, will you say stay
Will you say yes, will you say no
Will you say why don’t you just go
And then I’ll be all alone
Speak Out
(What will you say, what will you say)
Speak Out
(What will you say, what will you say)
Speak Out
(What will you say, what will you say)
Speak Out
(What will you say, what will you say)
I wish I could be with you every second of every day…….
Women Of Inspiration
What Inspires You?
For the last two years I have had the honour of performing for the Women of Inspiration Awards both in Calgary and in Toronto. In the days before Covid 19 I would be excited at the thought of getting on a plane and travelling back to Toronto to perform again soon. I also would be going back as a previous award winner, having won the Youth Excellence Award last year.
The way things are going, chances are the awards show might not happen, or it might look different. One thing I know is the magic will still be there no matter the circumstances.
What makes the event special is the woman behind it all, Monica. She is a dreamer. “If your dreams don’t scare you they aren’t big enough” she says. She is a hard worker. She cares for those around her and she sees the best in everyone.
The first time on her stage I sang for the WOI I sang Titanium by David Guetta featuring Sia. When Monica asked me to think of another power song for the next years show, I thought instead of finding a power song, I’d write one! That was how F.R.E.E. was born.
She believed in me when I was learning to believe in myself.
Thank you for all you have done for me and so many other women out there! You are a true Women of Inspiration!
Inspired by those around me and the music that brings us all together!

The Wings Needed to Fly.
In 2018, I met Vera Goodman.
In her 80’s, Vera has more energy than, well, me somedays! When she asked me to open her “Vera and Friend’s Variety Show” to raise money for her program, Reading Wings, I didn’t need to think about it. The answer was yes!
So many amazing things.
Opening the show, I was at a grand piano on the stage at the Bella Theatre, one of the most glorious stages in Canada. I would be performing alongside Al Muirhead, a Juno Award Winner with his band, and meeting Michelle Cameron Coulter and Darrell Janz, two Canadian Legends as well as so many other amazing performers. All of this carefully organized and produced by Murray Ord (umm Brad Pitt Legends of the Fall kind of stuff).
The best part, the money raised at the event was to support Vera’s reading program, one she created to teach people how to read. Reading Wings has taken flight and travelled the world all the way to Gambia, West Africa.
The last show I did before Covid 19 quarantine was Vera’s Story Circle Project which shared the documentary of the Gambia experience.
Personally this show was a milestone for me. I shared another original song I wrote called Speak Out. Also, for the first time, I had family friends in the audience. It is always harder to sing for people I know. You would think it would be the opposite, but it isn’t. I can sing for thousands of people I don’t know way easier than for 20 people I see in my everyday life. Why is that? If you know, maybe I can write a song about it one day!
So I want to thank Vera for being a role model. To me, and all those young boys and girls in Gambia! Also, thank you for giving me a platform to share my music, and inviting me to be a part of your amazing initiative.
